About the Author

D.A. Winstead was a senior government official at the U.S. Department of State. He traveled extensively during his twenty-two years of civil service . . . mainly in post-conflict nations in Africa, Eastern Europe, and Asia. Currently enjoying a slower life in Atlanta, Georgia, he writes historical fiction based on his travels and embellished by his experiences and cultures. He made frequent visits to South Africa over the decade following the abolishment of apartheid. There – in Cape Town, a week before Christmas, 2009 – he was inspired to write this story . . . Southern Crosses: An African Ghost Story. This is the author’s second work of historical fiction. His third book, set in Eastern Europe, is planned for early 2013.
